Our aim is to ensure you always receive the best advice and most suitable products. At every stage of your visit, from making your appointment to the eye examination, to collecting your new glasses or contact lenses, we will explain all you need to know and be happy to address any questions or concerns that you may have.
Consultations are carried out using a combination of proven traditional methods together with new technology to ensure a thorough, in-depth eye examination and to enable the recognition of any ocular problems at the earliest possible stage.
We encourage all our patients to return regularly for any further assistance or advice.
At Sims we have invested in NEW state of the art technology that will allow us to examine your eyes in more detail. The new Swept Source OCT (SSOCT) will help us look deeper into the eye for any structural changes which may later affect the vision/health of your eyes. Eye conditions such as Age-related Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma can therefore be detected far sooner than we have been able to do before.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an imaging technique which works in a similar way to ultrasound, using light waves instead of sound waves. Unlike conventional OCT, Swept Source OCT combines its fastest scanning speed and longer 1050nm wavelength resulting in stunningly clear, detailed images even in the deepest layers of the eye.
From May 2018, you can request imaging from the NEW SSOCT before seeing the Optometrist who will analyse the pictures and explain the results to you.
